Collection: Ibura Ayele

Ibura Ayele, a proud St. Louis native, has been writing ever since she could pick up a pen and scribble. Through participating in slam poetry throughout high school and college she began to hone her craft. When she’s not in school or writing, she enjoys doing yoga with her friends, watching movies, and traveling to visit family. Wildflower is Ibura’s first book of poetry.

Ibura is passionate about reproductive justice and improving health outcomes in the region for birthing people of color. Ibura is currently working toward a Master of Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis and will graduate in 2022. She became a certified full-spectrum doula in August of 2021 through Tru’s Community Doula Training hosted by Jamaa Birth Village. Her services include birth planning, perinatal health education, postpartum support, and more.

Ibura’s middle name is Ayele, which means “Powerful” in Amharic. She created Ayele Doula Care in order to empower her clients throughout their birthing journeys. Through compassion, empathy, and advocacy Ibura provides non-judgmental and culturally competent doula support.
